A True Story - How I got over $30,000 worth of market research for less than $300

Hello,

My name is Angie Bingham and in 1984 I worked for a major multinational corporation. I was in the human resources department and it's representative in the future products division. The company I worked for was planning to bring to market a new product. But before the product could be designed and produced, the company wanted to know the demand for the product first. A common situation for any business. So the company hired a research firm to conduct a market survey. What they did was offer $50 to individuals who agreed to participate in the survey. They would send mass mailings (bulk mail) to people on lists likely to be potential customers for this product. It took 6 months to send out the notices, arrange the interviews, conduct the interviews, amass the data and then present it to the company. The cost for this service in 1984 was US$30,000. In the end the company decided not to produce the product because the demand was not sufficient to warrant the production costs.

To demostrate how far market research has come, the Internet now can produce the same market survey instantly. In 1984, the survey was for one product being pitched to one potential customer base. Today, you can research any product across the entire online spectrum, over and over again. The cost for this service? Less than $1 or a £1 per day when purchased on an annual contract*.

I discovered this service 6 years ago when looking for an Internet business to buy. I didn't buy the business, but instead I became a life long fan of the instant research. When I used it to research the business I was considering buying, I found the price of the business was too high for the demand of the product. I found this out by searching for keywords related to the business, determining the number of people who were searching for this business and then comparing it to how many other sites were offering that same service. I did all this in about 20 minutes. One of the other things the service did was suggest to me other possible keywords for the business and upon searching on those terms, I actually found many potential products that had very high demand but very few people actively promoting these items. That's when I realized I would always be a subscriber.

Today my businesses are doing very well and I owe a large part of the success to instant market research. Instead of wasting money on a business that had little demand, I spent less than $300 to find dozens of products that had huge demand and little competition. That's how I got over $30,000 worth of market research for less than $300.

Sincerely,
Angie Bingham
